singer/songwriter + fashion equal survival

Listening to: Pretty Girl Rock By Keri Hilson

It seems a singer won't have the edge today if they don't have the two elements needed for survival: to be able to write your own songs, and to have your own bizzare style. The voice seems the third needed-- but only "seems." There are very few singers today who are 'normal' looking, who won't go far, except of course for those with talent. I'm not saying the singing Neptunians don't have the talent, of course not! I'm just saying 'notice' is the name of the game. Other simple styled singers now need to vamp up their style to get into the inner circle of pop. The age seems long and gone when someone dressed awkwardly plain can waltz into the red carpet without being eternally slammed.

GAGA THE TRIGGER

I believe this all started when Lady Gaga entered the fame stage. God love her other-worldliness. Believe it or not, though before she seemed outrageous, Miss Gaga still was in the proximity of 'acceptable' ... she just crossed the line a little bit...but now, she not only crossed the border, she seemed to have created her own dimension.

Gaga before. She's alright :) acceptable right?

GAGa now... she wears, I can't even call them clothes, she wears
institutions, artifacts, establishments. She is so cool. haha! like daring cool :)

Can't blame Eminem for looking stoned.

Miss Swift is also responsible for making songwriting popular, but
